The Quarterly Compliance Report provides data and analysis on the performance of the program and how the NETCC is being enforced. This includes updates on retailer applications to join the NETCC and rejections, complaints investigations and outcomes including compliance actions, suspensions and expulsions and audits of Approved Sellers and outcomes including compliance actions. The report also provides useful guidance for Approved Sellers on avoiding common compliance issues identified in audits and complaints handling.
Last quarter, a record 320 retailers applied to join the program fuelled in part by demand for the NSW Home Energy Saver program. We rejected eight per cent of applications for non-compliance with the Code or non-response.
We received a record 318 complaints as solar and battery sales also reached record highs. We closed 178 cases with 43 resulting in compliance actions. Four Approved Sellers were suspended for major breaches of the Code, and one was expelled.
The results show that more retailers are joining the program, raising consumer protection standards across the country, but also that complaints are rising in line with record adoption. All Approved Sellers should read the compliance report to avoid common areas where retailers are falling short of consumer protection standards.
